Before I was a photographer, I worked at a Montessori preschool where Parker and Preston attended. In fact, when I first started there, Preston wasn’t even born yet! It was such a privilege to photograph these brothers in their element, years later.

Each year, Erica has chosen a new spot for family photos. This year it was the alleyway behind their Roland Park home which lead to a sunny field.

I don’t get a lot of inquiries for families with older children, but this session is evidence that these photos are just as important as those of toddlers. We played board games and then took a walk along the trail behind their home.

When Diana first emailed me she wrote, "I am a single mom and it's always hard to see the family photos with the mom, dad and kids; I decided to get over that and embrace our family, unique as it is. I would love for you to be our photographer."

This session was everything an in home session can be. When I arrived, mom and daughters were baking cookies. They quickly showed me all the special toys in their bedrooms, and then we headed outdoors to play in the backyard.

This family is all about letting kids be kids. I was so down to meet them in the woods where we splashed in the creek, ran through the trees, and played with stones at a dilapidated historical forge.

With grandparents, aunts, and uncles in town, it was the perfect opportunity to take some posed and candid family portraits. Kids blew out birthday candles and we played with bubbles on the front lawn.

This woodland backyard session was so magical. We fed (and chased) chickens, picked wild phlox flowers, and snuggled with grandma and grandpa.

It was a rainy morning so we met in this beautiful greenhouse, fed the fish, and sang songs about bumblebees in the cactus room.

The weather does not need to be golden and sunny for beautiful photos. This cloudy session at a tulip garden is proof!

Lauren , Josh, and their two toddlers met me at Sherwood Gardens in the height of spring for a golden hour mini session among the tulips.

Portraits of a three year old painting fall leaves and wearing an adorable vintage yellow dress are the perfect recipe for magic.

These children had a blast blowing bubbles together and it was the perfect opportunity for impromptu portraits.

We met one warm winter day to take photos for family Christmas cards. We found a playground and threw leaves in the air.

I met this sweet family on a chilly day at Patterson Park and we spent the morning exploring the pagoda, duck pond, and a beautiful Audubon bird garden.

This newborn session is casual and low-key. Just parents and new baby learning how to be a family at home in Hampden.
