In-Home Newborn Family Session

I had so much fun with Baby S and her family during this session. Family newborn sessions are quickly becoming one of my favorite types of sessions and I can’t wait to do more of them!

Family Sessions with Newborns

While many of my newborn session clients are first-time parents, I always get excited when I have a client who has older children too. I met this family when they only had one child and a second on the way. I actually photographed their American wedding celebration after they moved here from China! While this session was primarily to document baby S in her newborn stage, we also made sure to capture her older siblings and the role that they play. Especially when you have a child becoming an older sibling for the first time, it is so important to make them feel included. Documenting their relationship with the new baby is such a great way to cherish both of the children and these are often the photographs that parents love the most.

During my newborn sessions, I also make sure to get plenty of photos of both parents. Whether it’s your first child or your fifth, the newborn stage moves quickly and you deserve beautiful photos of you with your baby. Too often, I find that moms are behind the camera instead of in front of it, so it’s a huge priority of mine to take authentic photos of you and your newborn.

This family session was truly a joy to capture and baby S is the luckiest little girl to grow up in this loving family!

In-Home Milestone Family Session

These photos of Baby T and his parents make me emotional every time I look at them. These phases in babyhood are so fleeting, and I’m so glad I could capture them for this gorgeous family.

Milestone Sessions on Film

There is something so special about this age - the eyes just starting to take in everything around them, the baby giggles, the chunky legs, and soft skin. As every parent knows, your baby grows faster than you can possibly imagine during their first year, so it’s so important to stop and take it in every once in a while.

While newborn photos are classic and gorgeous in their own right, it can be stressful to organize a photo session in the first few weeks postpartum. I’ve become a huge fan of these milestone sessions as an alternative - capturing your baby when they’re a few months old. Not only are parents less exhausted at this point, but your baby is finally interacting with you and is an active participant instead of just sleeping through the session.

This session with Baby T was so precious, and even more so since it took place in their home. I love capturing families in their own spaces. Our homes are reflections of who we are, and so often we don’t have any photos of them! Getting to capture these three in their house and on their property was incredibly special, and something I hope they cherish for a lifetime.
